Ep. 2 Explained Like I’m 5: Ovens

Ovens work 60% of the time, 100% of the time, but I’m 5 so I don’t really know how percentages work. When your oven is on, it really might be off or on because the element only makes heat some of the time.

If you want it to be really really hot, it will stay on longer and stay off less. If you want it to be less hot, it will turn the element on for less time and will stay off for more time.

So you set how hot you want your oven and it turns the element on, then off, on, then off… It’s never sitting still! It’s always going up or down. It might be higher than you wanted, it might be lower than you wanted, but it’s hardly ever right where you wanted. But don’t worry, it will be ok. It will work out in the end. Now where are those cookies you were making?
